Republic Day 2025: Motorbike Stunts, Fly-Past Conclude Parade at Kartavya Path

 BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Sunday attacked former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over the recurring deterioration in the city's air quality, witnessed in the past many years.     

Taking a dig at him, Thakur said Kejriwal came to Delhi "coughing" from Haryana 11 years ago and has since left the city "gasping for breath."       

The former Union minister also claimed that once the "AAP-da" government is removed from Delhi, the BJP will ensure clean roads, clean water, a clean Yamuna, and clean air.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced Manish Sisodia will assume the role of Deputy chief minister again if the party wins the February 5 assembly polls in Delhi.Kejriwal made the announcement during a public meeting in the Jangpura constituency, from where Sisodia is contesting this time.

President Vladimir Putin on Sunday said that Russian-Indian relations are based on "special and privileged strategic partnership" and hoped that the two countries will use joint efforts to continue to consistently build up productive bilateral cooperation across all areas.

BJP MP from Belgaum Jagadish Shettar on microfinance crisis in Karnataka says, "The government is unable to address harassment in the microfinance sector due to weak administration, with the state government's system collapsed. This harassment has led to suicides among many poor people and widespread mental distress. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently held a meeting with officers, directing them to take action. He also mentioned plans to amend laws to curb microfinance harassment."

Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation with Romeo Force of the Indian Army apprehended a man from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for trespassing, said police officials on Sunday.

The individual identified as Mohd Yasir Faiz was apprehended near the Line of Control (LOC) in the Poonch district.

YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday extended his greetings on the 76th Republic Day and urged people to celebrate country's unity in diversity.

A fire broke out in a paper warehouse in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on Sunday.

The incident took place in the Tiruvottiyur area of Chennai.

Soon after receiving the information about the incident, the officials of the fire department immediately reached the spot with firefighters.
As many as four firefighters are present at the spot and are making efforts to douse the fire.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the district headquarters of Dibrugarh will be developed as the second capital of the state within the next three years.

Unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day, Sarma said the government will construct a permanent building of Assam assembly in this city on the southern bank of Brahmaputra in Upper Assam.

"Today is an important day in Dibrugarh's journey to become the second capital of Assam. For the first time, state celebrations are taking place in this historical city," he said.

From 2027, one session of Assam assembly will take place in Dibrugarh every year, the CM announced.

"From January 25 next year, the construction work for a permanent building of the Assam assembly will begin. In the next three years, Dibrugarh will become an important city in India," he said.

As part of the government's urbanisation plan, Tezpur and Silchar will also be developed along with Dibrugarh in the coming period, Sarma said.

"Dibrugarh will be the second capital of Assam in the next three years. We will construct a Raj Bhavan in Tezpur and develop it as the cultural capital of Assam. Silchar will have a secretariat and chief secretary's office, thereby bridging the gap between Barak Valley and Guwahati," he added.

Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong congratulated President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India’s 76th Republic Day on Sunday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday that in their respective letters to the Indian leaders, Tharman and Wong hailed Singapore's and India's close relationship, and they both looked forward to deepening their partnership.

India marks its 76th Republic Day on January 26 in an annual display of culture and military prowess.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to make a one-day visit to Prayagraj on Monday to take part in the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, as per a release from the Mahakumbh Media Centre.

According to the release, Shah is scheduled to arrive in Prayagraj at 11:25 AM on Monday, following which he will take a holy bath at the Triveni Sangam. He will then visit the Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and Abhayvat.

Later, the minister will proceed to Juna Akhara, where he will meet the Maharaj and other saints of the Akhara and have lunch with them.

The massed Pipes and Drums Band of the Indian Army with 94 musicians the band drawn from 13 units left the audience amazed with their synchronized march-past with tunes of 'JAI JANAM BHUMI'.

The Airports Authority of India celebrated the 76th Republic Day at the Delhi Air Traffic Services complex on Sunday.

M. Suresh, Member of Air Navigation Services at Airports Authority of India (AAI) was the chief guest of the event and received the guard of honour. He also unfurled the national flag in the presence of several AAI officials.

The T-90 Bhishma tank, commanded by Captain Navjot Singh Atwal of the 74 Armoured Regiment, led the Mechanised Columns, and demonstrated India's cutting-edge military technology.

The T-90 Bhishma is a symbol of India's cutting-edge military prowess, designed on the Hunter-Killer concept. It boasts a powerful 125 mm smooth bore gun, a 7.62 mm co-axial machine gun, and a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun. Equipped to fire laser-guided missiles, this tank can engage targets at a range of up to five kilometres, even during the night.

On the 76th Republic Day, Kartavya Path showcased India's diverse strengths and its evolving cultural inclusiveness, marching towards a bright future. Among the 31 tableaux, including 16 from states and Union Territories, Uttarakhand and Goa highlighted their rich cultural heritage, tourism potential, and vibrant art forms.

Goa's tableau, themed 'Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas,' celebrates the state's pristine beaches, lush landscapes, and rich culture.

The Indian Navy's tableau at the 76th Republic Day parade showcased its three newly commissioned frontline combatants -- warships INS Surat and INS Nilgiri, and submarine INS Vaghsheer.

The three platforms commissioned in Mumbai on January 15, symbolises India's naval prowess and the spirit of 'Atmanirbharta' (self-reliance).

A mixed marching contingent and a band from the Navy participated in the ceremonial parade.

The average age of the members in the contingent is 25 years. These personnel have been carefully handpicked from all branches of the Indian Navy and have undergone specialised training of over two months for the event, officials earlier said.

The Indian Army unfurled the national flag at Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on the 76th Republic Day.

Mounted on his charger Ranveer, a Hanoverian horse, Lt Ahaan Kumar led the iconic 61 Cavalry at the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on Kartavya Path on Sunday.

It is a proud moment for the young officer as his father Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area is the Parade Commander.

These soldiers on their horses have been a prominent feature of the Republic Day parades. 

Raised in 1953, 61 Cavalry is the only serving active Horsed Cavalry Regiment in the world, with the amalgamation of all the 'State Horsed Cavalry Units'.

It has the unique distinction of leading the last recorded Cavalry charge in history wherein as part of the 15th Imperial Cavalry Brigade, it defeated the Turkish Eighth Army which led to the capture of the strategic port of Haifa on Sep 23, 1918, which today is celebrated as Haifa Day in India as well Israel.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha kicked off the 76th Republic Day celebrations on Sunday in Agartala by unfurling the national flag, calling it a "matter of great pride."

In his address, Saha highlighted the significance of the Constitution, which has guided the country's progress.

Speaking to ANI, the Tripura Chief Minister said, "This is a very historic day. Today is the 76th Republic Day, and it is a matter of great pride for us that the Constitution was written. On its basis, the country is moving forward."

Chief Minister also extended wishes of 76th Republic Day on X post. Taking to X, Saha wrote, "I extend my warmest greetings to all my countrymen on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day."

The event was marked by a parade by contingents of Tamil Nadu Police, Coast Guard, Nilgiri force units, Tamil Nadu Postal Security group, Tamil Nadu Forest Department and other forces.

India, a land of diversity and heritage has been among the oldest civilisations in the world. After a prolonged struggle, the country gained Independence on August 15, 1947.

President Droupadi Murmu approved Gallantry awards to 93 Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including 11 posthumous, on the eve of 76th Republic Day.

Additionally, the President also approved 58 Mentioned-in-Despatches to the Armed Forces personnel, including four posthumous medals.
The gallantry awards include two Kirti Chakras, including one posthumous; 14 Shaurya Chakras, including three posthumous; one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry); 66 Sena Medals, including seven posthumous; two Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and eight Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry), the Ministry of Defence stated.

Around 10,000 Special Guests are invited to witness the parade, in line with the government's objective to increase 'Jan Bhagidari' in events of national importance. These Special Guests from different walks of life are the architects of 'Swarnim Bharat', a Defence Ministry release said. They include the best performers in various fields and those who have made the best use of the schemes of the Government.

The celebrations will also witness a march past by the Marching Contingent of Indonesian National Armed Forces and Military Band of Indonesia's Military Academy. 

The Republic Day 2025 parade will begin at 10:30 am. The ceremony will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial. He will lead the country in paying tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. The PM will then come to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to witness the parade.

Republic Day marks the date when the Indian Constitution was enacted in 1950.
