Australian Open 2025: Madison Keys Stuns Defending Champion Aryna Sabalenka, Secures Her First Grand Slam Title

In the Australian Open women's singles final, America's Madison Keys defeated Belarus's two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka by 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Unites States-based Tennis player Madison Keys has been crowned as the title winner of the Australian Open 2025. Keys picked up a massive upset win over Aryna Sabalenka, who was seeking for a third title win in a row. The 29-year-old Keys secured her maiden Grand Slam title, and there was no better stage than the Rod Laver Arena to Achieve the historic achievement.   

Madison Keys Wins Grand Slam Title After Securing Huge Upset Win Over Aryna Sabalenka

Madison Keys has won her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2025. The US-based tennis player has stunned the two-time defending Champion, Aryna Sabalenka, in thrilling action at the Rod Laver Arena. Keys picked up a score line of 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in the Australian Open final on Saturday night to claim her first-ever Grand Slam title at age 29.

Prior to winning a women's major championship, Keys had made 46 Slam appearances, which was third only to Pennetta's 49 and Marion Bartoli's 47 when she took home the 2013 Wimbledon title.

“I have wanted this for so long, and I have been in one other Grand Slam final, and it didn’t go my way, and I didn’t know if I was going to get back in this position,” said Madison Keys, who was born in Illinois and is now based in Florida.

Madison Keys Had A Run To Remember

The United States-based Tennis player had a spectacular time at the first Grand Slam Event of 2025 after she stunned some of the popular names in the game. Madison keys defeated Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the quarters, the number two-seeded Iga Swiatek in the semifinal and then locked horns against Aryna Sabalenka. She prevented Sabalenka from winning her fourth major championship overall and her third consecutive women's trophy at the Australian Open, a feat last achieved by Martina Hingis from 1997 to 1999.

Keys also achieved a huge feat after she became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2005 to defeat both of the WTA’s top two players at Melbourne Park.
