In response to Gambhir’s call, DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) Director Shyam Sharma, who has had a long association with Gambhir, clarified that senior players cannot be compelled to play domestic matches. Sharma acknowledged Gambhir's sentiments but stressed that players like Virat and Rohit have the right to decide their participation in domestic cricket based on their individual schedules and priorities.
