2019 Lok Sabha election results from Farrukhabad: BJP's Mukesh Rajput wins re-election, makes 'Choor choor' of Congress bigwig Salman Khurshid

Senior Congress leer Salman Khurshid was locked in a three-way electoral contest from his tritional constituency of Farrukhab where he faced challenge of overcoming "Modi factor" and outsmarting SP-BSP-RLD coalition in capturing anti-BJP vote.

opponents of Khurshid, a former Union minister who has held portfolios of external affairs, law and mirities, may t have h his profile, but BJP's sitting MP Mukesh Rajput and BSP's Maj Agarwal me it a pitched contest for seat.

BJP's sitting MP Mukesh Rajput wins from constituency while Congress' Salman Khurshid receives only 55143 votes. BSP's Maj Agarwal comes second.

In 2014, BJP's Mukesh Rajput h defeated Samajwi Party's Rameshwar Singh Yav and BSP's Jaiveer Singh who h secured second and third position respectively. Salman Khurshid, who was incumbent Minister of External Affairs, lost bly and could only poll 95,000 votes out of total 9.7 lakh votes. BJP h a history of winning seat, with Sakshi Maharaj, current MP from Unnao, winning from seat in 1996 and 1998 elections.

In perhaps biggest election controversy from constituency, Khurshid took up issue of Batla House encounter wherein he dared Yogi ityanath to debate with him when Uttar Presh CM raised issue to attack Congress.

"Whom does Yogi want to fight? I am happy Yogi wants to debate with me. I want to tell him that he can debate about matter anywhere with me, even in a Gaushala. To kw if cow supports him or t," Khurshid h said.

This came after UP CM Yogi ityanath during his campaign rally in Farrukhab questioned Khurshid's infamous remark that Sonia Gandhi h shed tears on hearing of encounter. "One should question as to why Congress’s Farrukhab candidate Salman Khurshid went to defend Batla house terrorists,” ityanath h said.

In ar major controversy, Khurshid used Opposition’s famous ‘Choor Choor remark” against BSP-SP alliance. Calling Lok Sabha elections a direct contest between BJP and Congress he said in an election rally, "We will fight against Modi, and I declare that whosever will interfere in fight between me and Modi, or will try to stop me, wher he be from Gathbandhan or from BSP (Haathi), I will attack m and will break m into pieces”, he said while dressing rally.
