BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has quipped sarcastically on the return of Mani Shankar Aiyar and his 'neech' attack ahead of the final phase of voting in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Taking to Twitter, Malviya has shared his views on the opinion piece written by Aiyar where he has renewed and justified his infamous 2017 casteist and classist jibe wherein he had called PM Modi a 'neech kisam ka aadmi'.
Drawing a link to the most recent shocking remark by a Congress leader - Sam Pitroda's '1984 (anti-Sikh genocide) hua to hua' - Malviya has said:
"Upset that Sam Pitroda was getting all the attention, the irrepressible Mani Shankar Aiyar pulls Pitroda’s foot out of his mouth and puts it in his... Reiterates and justifies his ‘Neech’ comment for PM!"
In his opinion piece, the Congress leader and former diplomat Mani Shankar Aiyar had made himself out to be a 'prophet' regarding his comment which had caused an enormous controversy before the 2017 Gujarat assembly polls. Justifying the remark and calling PM Modi 'the most foul-mouthed Prime Minister', Aiyar has said 'Remember how I described him on December 7, 2017? Was I not prophetic?'
What makes the return of the 'neech' attack even more nefarious and contrived is the fact that at that time (in 2017), Mani Shankar Aiyar had attempted to go back on his remark, attributing it to poor Hindi. It also renders Congress president Rahul Gandhi's repeated claim that he practices 'politics of love' versus the BJP's 'politics of hate' ring hollow.
In response to the attack in 2017, PM Modi had said that it had exposed the Congress party's 'Mughlai mindset':
Following this, in what can clearly now be said to be an unconvincing attempt to use the party whip to reprimand Aiyar, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted the following:
The original source of the 'neech' remark is actually Priyanka Vadra who during the course of the 2014 campaign had accused the BJP's then PM candidate Narendra Modi of 'neech rajniti.'
The Congress response on the triumphant return and justification of the Neech remark is awaited.
