Bihar: JDU's Minapur candidate Manoj Kushwaha returns poll ticket, party issues statement

JD(U)'s Manoj Kumar Kushwaha who was the party's candidate from Minapur constituency in the forthcoming assembly elections in Bihar, returned the party ticket.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led ruling JD(U)'s Maj Kumar Kushwaha who was party's candidate from Minapur constituency in forthcoming assembly elections in Bihar, returned party ticket on Saturday. According to Kushwaha, he wanted to contest from Kurhani, a constituency which he h represented thrice but w has been allotted to BJP.

Speaking to news ncy ANI, said, Kushwaha said, "Party gave me a ticket from Minapur. I went re and saw situation and I decided t to contest polls and returned ticket to state president Bashishtha Narayan Singh and national general secretary RCP Singh. I also held a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister."

'Wanted to contest from Kurhani which is a BJP seat'

"I have decided to work for party. I wanted to contest from Kurhani which is a BJP seat. I h prepared from Kurhani and I h represented constituency thrice. party asked it is your choice to contest polls, and I decided t to contest polls and work for party," who is former MLA from Muzaffarpur district's Kurhani seat ded.

Clearing air, JD (U) state president Bashishtha Narain Singh said, "It is his large-heartedness and an example of his loyalty to party. reality is that he wanted to fight from Kurhani. Due to a mistake from party's side, ticket for Minapur seat was given to Maj Kumar Kushwaha who has same name as Maj Kumar. w Maj Kumar has been given ticket. Kushwaha returned ticket wrongly allotted to him."

Meanwhile, Maj Kumar who is w allotted party's ticket from Minapur said, "Majji (Khushwaha) is a great leer, he has been a former minister and has served party a lot. re was some opposition that why candidate from outside. After that, he took a courous step in interest of party, and w a common person like me got ticket. I am certainly happy."

Bihar goes to polls in three phases for its 243 assembly seats on October 28, vember 3, and vember 7. Keeping in view COVID-19 protocol, voting time has been increased by one hour. counting of votes will take place on vember 10. NDA has anunced its seat-sharing formula: BJP will contest 121 seats and JD(U) will contest 115, while Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM will contest seven seats.
