Congress announces 1st list of candidates ahead of Maharashtra polls

The Congress has announced the first list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra elections with a total of 51 candidates contesting from the State

Congress has anunced first list of candidates for upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. re are a total of 51 candidates contesting from state of Maharashtra. list includes Ashok Chavan, former Chief Minister of State. state President Balasaheb Thorat,  leer of Opposition Vijay Namdevrao Wettiwar, CLP leer KC Pavi are among anunced candidates from State.

Congress-NCP alliance

Congress is to contest elections in an alliance with NCP. Congress h earlier won 42 seats in 2014 assembly elections and NCP h won 41. Yashomati Chandrakanta Thakur, working President of Maharashtra PCC, is slated to contest from Teaosa Assembly Constituency, Mumbai PCC Chief Ekanath Khse's Daughter Varsha Ekanath Gaikw is to Contest From Dharavi. On or hand, Baba Siddiqui's son Zeeshan Siddiqui is to contest elections from Bandra East Assembly Constituency with CLP Leer Vijay Namdeorao Wettiwar from Brahmapuri Assembly Constituency.  Congress and NCP h fared poorly in Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year. NCP won only four out of 48 parliamentary seats in State, while Congress h won a solitary seat.

BJP-Sena in Maharashtra Assembly polls 

two allies in State have been at loggerhes for a while w over issue of seat-sharing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah have been meeting party leers to decide on final list of candidates. Shiv Sena leer Uddhav Thackeray h earlier tified media that seat-sharing pact is on verge of being finalised. This came at a time where re has been a delay in declaring seat-sharing pact for Assembly elections. Thackeray asserted that discussions between him and Union Minister Amit Shah have been fruitful. Furrmore, he stated that an anuncement can be expected anytime w. In past, BJP and Shiv Sena have contested 2014 State Assembly elections separately after failing to arrive at a seat-sharing formula.
