Austrian village changes name to ‘Fugging’ for endless mockery; netizens are 'mourning'

In an absurd situation, residents of an Austrian vill on vember 26 changed name of vill to ‘Fugging’ with effect from January 1, 2021, after y were seemingly tired of trolls, online mockery, and tourists stealing signposts. town council anunced that it finally achieved milestone after attempting to rename town for several years. Located in Upper Austria, vill is inhabited by around 100 people and its ‘awkward’ name has invited a lot of jokes. Mayor Andrea Holzner told Austrian brocaster Oe24 that town will be spelled as Fugging from year 2021.
According to Austrian brocaster, with social media, vill’s name gained popularity after it was frequently included in list of funniest places with most ‘unusual’ names. residents were also frustrated with fts of ro signposts and or banners that town flashed with its name on. People photographed mselves in front of signposts and later mocked name on internet. While town has sustained its name for approximately 1000 years, recently, it h become a joke for activists.
