After Taapsee Pannu expressed her disappointment of being ‘dropped’ from the remake of ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh', the makers have responded that she was just one of the ‘potential protagonists’ and that no commitment was made to her.
The makers of the movie, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and Juno Chopra in a statement shared that they never made any commitment to ‘versatile actress Taapsee Pannu’ and only followed the ‘basic protocol’ of approaching ‘potential protagonists’. They concluded by stating that they’d be keen to collaborate with the ‘extremely talented actress’ in the future.
“When a script is locked, every director or producer approaches actors for the casting of the film, it is a basic protocol followed by almost all filmmakers. Similarly, for our upcoming project – Pati Patni Aur Woh, we reached out to many actors, who we thought could be our potential protagonists in the film.
The versatile actress Taapsee Pannu was one of the many actresses we had approached for one of the leading ladies in the film. However, we as Producers have never made any commitment to her. We would like to clarify that our casting was purely done on the basis of who suited the characters to the tee. Taapsee is an extremely talented actress and we would love to work with her in future. We will soon make the official announcement for the final cast of Pati Patni Aur Woh,” read the statement
The actress in a recent interview to a daily said that she and the makers had agreed on doing the film after which she cleared her schedule to accommodate the dates for shooting. As the clauses were yet to be negotiated, she claimed the producers ‘vanished’. The ‘Manmarziyaan’ star stated that director Mudassar Aziz told her he was asked to ‘take someone else’ and when she approached the producers, they didn’t give her a proper reason. Calling the entire situation ‘disheartening’, she had asserted that she ‘deserves an answer.’
‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ is a classic comedy starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur produced and directed by BR Chopra. Abhay and Juno (Kapil) Chopra are the late filmmaker’s grandsons.
Reports claim that Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday are likely to be paired in the movie.
