Akshay Kumar: Did you know the actor's father was in the army?

Akshay Kumar faced struggles during the start of his career. It took him a while to bag the title of Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood. Here's looking at his journey.

Akshay Kumar, who is also known as the Khiladi of Bollywood has appeared in over 100 films.  He has won several awards including National Flim Award for the best actor in the movie Rustom. The actor has also worked as a stunt actor and also hosted the tv show Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi. 

Akshay Kumar's early life

The star was born in Amritsar in a Punjabi family and from a young age, he was interested in sports. His father was an army officer and he lived and grew up in Delhi. Later on, he moved to Mumbai when his father left the army. He has done his studies from Don Bosco School and later on, he joined Guru Nanak Khalsa College for higher education in the city.

If reports are to be believed, he chose to become a model at an early stage of his life. It is said that one fine day he missed his flight to Banglore which, was a blessing in disguise. However, on the same day, he bagged an opportunity for his first ever movie as he was signed for the lead role in the movie Deedar.

Akshay Kumar's upcoming movies

The actor has three upcoming movies lined up for the year 2020 so far. The first being Sooryavanshi which is the most awaiting and the fourth part of Shetty's Police Universe franchise. His second film is Laxmmi Bomb which is said to be a comedy and horror film. The movie is the Hindi directorial debut of Raghava Lawrence. The film is the Hindi remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana features Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on June 5 2020. Another project in his kitty is Good News, the shooting of which has gone on floors recently.
