The Zoya Factor actor Sonam Kapoor has already started gearing up for her next project. Just like Sonam’s latest movie, The Zoya Factor, her upcoming film Battle for Bittora too is based on Anuja Chauhan's best-selling book. Although The Zoya Factor has just hit the theatres, Sonam has already begun shooting for her next movie. Sonam has reportedly acquired the movie-adaptation rights for the third book of Anuja Chauhan as well.
About Battle for Bittora
The plot of the book revolves around an independent city girl who visits her hometown, Bittora, on her grandmother’s request. To her surprise, her hometown is nothing like she remembers from her childhood. The movie adaptation of the book stars Sonam Kapoor in the lead role, while the male lead of the movie has not been disclosed yet. Sonam’s Khoobsurat co-star Fawad Khan was earlier approached for the role. However, he reportedly walked out of the film because of creative issues.
Farhan to replace Fawad?
Fawad Khan had previously given a statement citing his busy schedule to be the reason why he could not do the film. However, reports suggest that Khan had an issue with the bold scenes from the movie. Fawad reportedly denied these rumours, stating that he maintains a good rapport with Sonam and the Kapoor family. Fawad Khan even went on to say that he never rejected the film.
It is speculated that Farhan Akhtar will replace Fawad in the leading role. Akhtar has previously worked with Sonam in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor will produce Battle for Bittora, and the Khoobsurat director, Shashanka Ghosh will take the director's chair. The film is expected to release in the upcoming year.
In the past two years, Sonam has acquired the rights of two books, including Battle for Bittora. She has also bought the rights for Govinda, a novel by Krishna Udayasankar. The novel is a mythological drama and is a three-part series. The novel is a modern recital of Mahabharatha and the series is called 'The Aryavarta Chronicles'. The movie will release in the next one or two years. This is the first time that the Aisha actress will be dabbling in the mythological genre. Considering the appreciation that the genre has previously received, the movie is surely to watch out for.
