Deepika Padukone's alternate career choice: What did she want to be?

Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone was asked what she would have chosen as a career, if not an actor. Read ahead to know what the Padmaavat actor replied

Deepika Padukone is one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood and has also made her debut in Hollywood. The actor tends to fit in every role perfectly but, when asked her what she would like to be if not an actor and her answer was quite unusual. Back in 2016, Shekhar Gupta hosted an event called the IIM-B Leadership Summit and the Padmaavat actor was a guest at the show. She was then asked what she would like to be if not an actor, to which she said that she would like to become a secretary. She also added that she would like to do a job which involves filing, photo-copying and cleaning.

What would Deepika Padukone be, if not an actor?

The actor said if she was given a choice between Hollywood and Bollywood, she would always choose Bollywood. She quoted, "Home is Home" as the reason behind her answer. Deepika Padukone also added that she found the process of talking about a character and becoming an actor boring. Adding, that several characters like Piku, Leela and Mastani left a mark on her. For the character of Piku, she had to sit on the pot for too long and that made her realise that it was to spread awareness of writing skill in this country.

The host even asked Deepika Padukone if there was a difference in the way Indian stars comment on political issues unlike stars from Hollywood, to which she said that she does not feel there is a difference between the two major film industries but if it is something millions agree on, she would not want to argue. Deepika Padukone had suffered from depression during her initial days in the industry and said that she would like to speak on that issue because she wants to make a difference and she will make a difference. The Bajirao Mastani actor opened up about her depression to a foundation called The Live Love Laugh Foundation who counselled her and also helps those in need.

Speaking about depression Deepika Padukone said that the conversation about mental health has changed in the last or two years. She added that depression is different from a plateau feeling and it is different from feeling sad. One in five Indians feels depressed in their lifetimes which needs to be addressed.

At last, she was asked to define success to which she said she does not know what success means, for her being successful is being happy with herself. The actor’s upcoming film Chhappak is about an acid attack victim. Fans have been waiting for her film ever since her first look was revealed.
