'Dream Girl': Director Raaj Shaandilyaa refutes plagiarism accusations

Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming comedy-drama 'Dream Girl' was recently drawn into controversy after filmmaker Janak Toprani accused the makes of plagiarism.

Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming comedy-drama 'Dream Girl' was recently drawn into controversy after Bollywood filmmaker Janak Toprani accused makes of plagiarism. As per media reports, Janak Toprani who has directed a film called 'Call For Fun' in 2017 alleged that Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Dream Girl'  has a striking resemblance to his film which sees main male lead character donning various female avatars.

Recently, 'Dream Girl' director Raaj Shaandilyaa responded to plagiarism allegations and defied all such claims. filmmaker during a recent interview reportedly said that  idea of film belongs to him and his co-writer Nirmaan D. Singh since 2010 and y have also registered it. Raaj Shaandilyaa furr emphasized on his point saying that concerned director's film was t commercially successful, so would he or anybody replicate  idea. 

Janak Toprani accusation

After trailer of 'Dream Girl' released, filmmaker Janak Toprani reportedly put out a statement claiming that Balaji Telefilms stole his idea for upcoming venture. He also revealed that he had approached Balaji Telefilms with script twice but it was rejected by m. He furr informed that Ekta Kapoor was t a part of talks, as he had spoken to production team.

Janak Toprani also said that he tried to call Nachiket Pantvaidya, CEO of Balaji, but he did t answer his call. He said he will take legal action against makers if 'Dream Girl' turns out to be a similar film.

Raaj Shaandilyaa to make his directorial debut with 'Dream Girl' 

Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa is all set to make his directorial debut with 'Dream Girl'. As revealed in trailer, comedy-drama features Ayushmann Khurrana as a Tele caller who aces his female alter ego Pooja while calling his customers. Unaware of originality of situation, his customers-  Annu Kapoor (who plays a Police officer), Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz and ors can be seen falling for his alter ego who y hail as ir 'Dream Girl'.

film takes interesting twists as his customers eventually fall for her and come down to pulling each or's hair to win her. Talking about 'Dream Girl',  director in a previous interview revealed that  film is set in Mathura and Ayushmann will be heard speaking Haryanvi and Hindi langus in local accent.

Ayushmann works like it's his first film: director Raaj Shaandilyaa

Ayushmann Khurrana who is kwn for his niche of offbeat films looks promising in upcoming venture. Talking about his versatility, Raaj Shaandilyaa in a previous interview with PTI said, "Ayushmann is a very simple, sincere actor. re's ego or attitude in him. He works like it's his first film. When an actor is so flexible and giving, it immensely helps film. Working with him is like making one of most wonderful films of your life."

What's next for Ayushmann Khurrana 

Meanwhile, besides 'Dream Girl', Ayushmann Khurrana also has a number of films in pipeline for release. He will be starring in 'Bala', 'Gulabo Sitabo' and, 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' and all three films are set for a 2020 release. 'Dream Girl' on or hand will be released on September 13, this year.
