There are several movies in Bollywood which are robust and send a message to the audience. Some of these movies are inspired by true events, while some are fictional. But fictional or not, they are written in such a way that speaks out to the audience and tends to move them because of their high emotional quotient. We are going to take a look at some of the best unconventional movies of all time. These movies are exceptional, and some of them have also won awards for their various elements like the script, performances, and overall story. Padman

Padman is a 2018 Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed and written by R. Balki. It stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte in lead roles. The movie is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It covers a sensitive topic in our society regarding health and hygiene. The story revolves around a man, who gets upset when he sees her wife using unhygienic clothing during her periods. As the story progresses, he comes up with a cheap and hygienic solution for all women who are on their period.

Trapped is a 2016 Hindi thriller film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The film stars Rajkumar Rao. The story is about a call-center employee who gets trapped in his own apartment. What makes this movie interesting and distinctive is its storyline. The protagonist is trapped in his own house without any supply of food, water or electricity. As for the movie’s reception, Trapped received a positive response from the critics.

Lipstick Under My Burkha is a 2016 film directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. It stars Aahana Kumra, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Konkona Sen Sharma. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

You won’t see movies like these often. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a 2017 comedy-drama film directed by Shree Narayan Singh. The movie is one of its kind and offers a wider perspective on social matters, which are imperative but go overlooked. The story revolves around a woman who is angry because of the lack of lavatories in her village. Akshay Kumar, who plays the role of the husband, quells her anger and goes on a journey to establish proper sanitation facilities around their surroundings.

Badhai Ho
