Anupam Kher reacted to his colleague Naseeruddin Shah's statement to a YouTube channel where referred to the Bulandshahr incident and said that the country is witnessing that the death of a cow is being given more importance than that of a policeman.

"There’s so much freedom in the country that you can abuse the Army, badmouth the Air Force Chief and pelt stones at the soldiers. How much more freedom do you need in a country? He said what he felt like, it doesn’t mean it’s the truth," he said.

Shah made a reference to the Bulandshahr unrest while speaking to a YouTube channel on Thursday saying that the "the death of a cow is more important than that of a police officer". He also said that he worried about his children over communal violence.

"The poison has already spread. It will be very difficult to capture this djinn back into the bottle again. There is complete impunity for those who take law into their own hands. In many areas, we are witnessing that the death of a cow is more important than that of a police officer," said Shah to the channel.

After the violence in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, where a mob went on a rampage over cow slaughter claiming the life of SHO Subodh Kumar Singh and a 20-year old Sumit, CM Yogi Adityanath faced flak for ordering the probe of those involved in the cow slaughter. As per an official spokesperson, the UP CM was of the view that the incident "is part of a bigger conspiracy, and hence all those directly or indirectly related to cow slaughter should be arrested in a time-bound manner."

In the video, Shah also said that he worried about his children as they did not have a religion.

"I worry about my children as they do not belong to any religion... I am worried about my children since, if a mob surrounds them and asks them 'Are you a Hindu or Muslim' they will have no answer. I worry because the situation does not seem to be improving anytime soon. "
