National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma reacted with delight on Centre moving Delhi High Court over film Gunjan Saxena: Kargi Girl. She wrote that she was ‘first’ to raise an issue against film for depiction of Armed Forces in movie. Sharma ded that Centre must seek a -objetion certificate from former Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, on whom film is based on.

Reacting to Republic World’s news report about Centre and IAF approaching court, she wrote that ‘things will be clear’ if film’s producer Karan Johar did t have C from Gunjan Saxena.

Sharma, two days after release of film on August 12, h responded to criticism of film, by stating that makers should ‘apologise’ and discontinue screening. She questioned need to portray armed forces in poor light, and asked Gunjan Saxena if discrimination depicted was true.
Delhi High court sought responses from Karan Johar, and Netflix, platform where film is screening, on Centre’s plea to stop screening of film. It, however, refused to stop screening of film, as it was alrey playing, and asked why plea h t been me before release of film. court was also of view that former flight lieutenant Gunjan Saxena be me a party to case, and issued a tice, seeking her response.

Previously, actor Kangana Ranaut h also raised objection to depiction of armed forces in film.
