#MeToo | Dia Mirza Lauds Mahesh Bhupathi-Lara Dutta's Stance, Says This Is How Things Will Change

As Bollywood gets consumed by the ongoing #MeToo movement, celebrities are making sure to strike the right chord with the initiative. With more and more big-wigs joining the bandwagon, this is turning out to be a historic movement in the Indian film industry.

Recently, former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor Lara Dutta's husband Tennis played Mahesh Bhupathi took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on the movement. He said, "Two days ago my wife, who's shooting out of town, got an offer from a leading international digital platform through Mukesh Chhabra's company. She forwarded it to me for my feedback. I asked if she really wanted to empower his company even after what's been in the news. Her reaction was that the digital platform hadn't really pulled back business from him either. Later, Lara got in touch with the digital platform and told them she wouldn't accept work through this company specifically. I think she did the right thing. I am not sure it's enough though." To This Dia Mirza, who has been voicing her opinion in the limelight, shared the Tweet saying, "I feel so proud to call you a friend @Maheshbhupathi. This is how things will truly change. #StopEngaging #TimesUp #MeToo #CleanUp #UseYourVoice." Previously, the actress also talked about Sajid Khan, who has been accused of sexual harassment, saying he was obnoxious and sexist in an interview. Later Lara Dutta also shared a tweet talking about her experience as a young artist taking baby steps to the industry. "She wrote, ''As a girl stepping into the business, I was told to expect harassment/exploitation,it was inevitable to grow a thick skin & learn to deal with it. No one ever told us it was UNACCEPTABLE, if we encountered it.....''

On the other hand, Mukesh Chhabra, denied all such allegations in a post on Twitter. He stated that it is unfortunate that all his hard work has been muzzled with a series of anonymous allegations. He further stated that the complaint should have first been sent to an ICC committee for investigation.
