Sandeep Reddy Vanga's latest directorial Animal has been performing well at the box office despite a wave of criticism. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker opened up about Animal's fight scenes and shared where he drew his inspiration from. Not just that, but Vanga also spoke about how he always got captivated by imperfect characters on screen.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga finds his inspiration in Kill Bill

During the interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga talked about a particular fight scene in Animal and shared that he was inspired by Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. He said that there is a fight scene in Kill Bill that seems to go on forever. Vanga shared that the scene impressed him and he watched it multiple times and he was completey engrossed in the scene.

He said, "The inspiration is from Kill Bill. In Kill Bill there is fight sequence that is never ending. I was hooked to it. I saw it multiple times and saw it holding my attention. First, when I saw that scene in Kill Bill, I thought it was so smartly done. That remained in me. When I read in the reviews that Kill Bill style action was used in Animal, then I realized it."

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's views on imperfect characters in films

During the same interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga mentioned that he has always loved imperfect characters in movies. He said that he was captivated by the presence of flawed men on screen. He said, "Whatever films I liked in my childhood were all of flawed men. When I went to film school, I was exposed to flawed men watching the movies of David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, and Stanley Kubrick. So, I felt like this is a zone in which I can tell stories."
