'Tandav' row: UP Police reaches Ali Abbas Zafar's residence, asks him to appear on Jan 27

A four-member team of Uttar Pradesh Police reached director Ali Abbas Zafar's residence on Thursday but the police informed that his house was locked.

A four-member team of Uttar Presh Police arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday to conduct a probe into a case registered in Luckw against controversial web series Tandav. y reached director Ali Abbas Zafar's residence on Thursday but police informed that his house was locked.

In an interaction with media, UP Police informed that y have pasted tice on his door and have asked him to appear before Investigation Officer on January 27 in Luckw. According to reports, Ali Abbas Zafar is in Dehrun with family currently.

Amid Tandav row, Supreme Court issues tice to Mirzapur makers & Amazon on complaint PIL

Amazon Prime Video's series has been accused of hurting religious sentiments for its depiction of Hindu deities. UP Police personnel reached Mumbai on Wednesday morning and visited office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection-1) in suburban Andheri for assistance. Two members of UP Police team also visited Mumbai Police hequarters in south Mumbai in afteron.

Tandav, a nine-episode political thriller starring Bollywood A-listers Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapia and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, started streaming last week. At centre of row is a scene with Zeeshan Ayyub, in role of college student Shiva, playing Hindu god Mahev in a atre production.

As controversy escalated, show makers on Tuesday tried to defuse situation by anuncing ir decision to remove controversial portion from show. cast and crew of show on Tuesday also said y h decided to implement changes to "dress concerns". In ir second apology statement in two days, show's team also thanked Ministry of Information and Brocasting for its "guidance & support" in matter.
