YRF's Spy Universe Update: Alpha, War 2 Now Shooting, Pathaan 2 Makes Strides In Scripting Stage

YRF's Spy Universe is currently India's biggest film franchise. With Pathaan grossing over ₹1000 crore last year and two new titles in the series - Alpha and War 2- lined up, the scale will only get bigger and better. The YRF spyverse already boasts of blockbuster titles such as Pathaan as well as the Tiger and War franchises. Now, all eyes are on Alia's and Sharvari Wagh's Alpha and Hrithik Roshan , Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer War 2. So how is YRF's action universe shaping up?  

Alpha - currently filming

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are set to play super-agents in Yash Raj Films next Spy Universe movie Alpha. Billed as the first female-led spy film, the movie will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously helmed the banner's Netflix series The Railway Men. The film went on the floors in July with Sharvari shooting some scenes in Mumbai. Later in August, Alia joined the team as the production headed to Kashmir. With its shoot progressing at a brisk pace, all eyes are on Alpha.

In a sizzling teaser revealed by Alia, she teased the film, saying, "Dhyaan se dekho toh har sheher mein ek jungle hai. Aur jungle mein hamesha Raj karega.. ALPHA!'

War 2 - well into production

War 2 has been filming since earlier this year, with Hrithik Roshan and Ayan Mukerji marking the beginning of production in Mumbai. The much-awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster, War 2 will be joined Jr NTR and Kiara Advani as cast members. On and off, Hrthik's looks from the film sets have leaked online, leading to more chatter and buzz around the film.

Jr NTR and Kiara have also shot some portions of the movie in Mumbai. The details of their roles are kept under wraps. Most recently, War 2 unit was snapped shooting for a song in Italy. Hrithik and Kiara are part of this schedule.

Pathaan 2 exciting update

The second part of Pathaan seems to be moving at a brisk pace. The spy action film released in 2023 turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. Recently, writer-director Abbas Tyrewala appeared on a podcast with Cyrus Broacha, and spoke about Pathaan 2. He said, “I believe the script is almost ready for dialogue”.

What more to expect from YRF spyverse?  

Besides Alpha and War 2, Pathaan 2 and Tiger vs Pathaan are also in the pipeline.
