Aasif recalls the time he worked at Saif and Kareena's wedding
In a recent interview, Aasif reminisced about his challenging times, recalling how he worked as a waiter while trying to make ends meet. He shared a poignant memory from 2012 when he was working in the kitchen at the Taj Hotel during Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's grand wedding. Despite being close to the Bollywood power couple, his manager denied him permission to meet them, leaving him in tears. Aasif said, "I cried that day as I could not meet the actors despite being so close to them."
How the incident pushed Aasif to work harder?
This disheartening incident, however, became a turning point for Aasif. It fueled his determination to pursue a career in Bollywood more fervently, the actor revealed during the same interview. About a month later, he secured an appointment with a casting agency, only to be mocked for his appearance. Recounting the experience, Aasif said, "The manager of the firm told me, ‘Don’t take my feedback personally, I am giving you honest feedback. Neither your looks are attractive, nor your body is very good, why would anyone cast you?’"
Instead of being disheartened, Aasif sought advice on how to improve his prospects. The casting manager suggested he learn acting and master the basics. Determined to succeed, Aasif returned to Rajasthan and joined a theatre group in Jaipur, where he honed his skills for six years. Afterward, he returned to Mumbai and worked as a casting assistant, eventually landing roles as a junior artist in various Bollywood movies. From that point on, Aasif’s career began to flourish, and he never looked back.
