Harry Styles recently released the official music video for “Lights Up”, his first single in more than two years. Fans from around the world have been questioning the meaning behind the music video and his late comeback.
All about sex and feeling sad
In a recent interview with a global media channel, Styles revealed that his new music will be all about sex and feeling sad, which is properly evident in his latest music video. In the video, the singer can be seen riding at the back of a motorcycle on beachside and joining a crowd of sweaty, barely-clothed revellers, writhing shirtless as both women and men caress his chiselled torso. In the video, Harry looks heavily sedated too.

Fans argue about Harry's sexuality
His previous single debut album, that had the 1970’s theme, reflecting the old school vibe is very different from his current album, featuring R&B-driven music. Soon after Harry released his 'Lights Up' video, fans across the globe argued about his sexuality.

While most people think that the singer is confirming his bisexuality through his music video, others claim that the singer is pointing out self-love and self-embracing through lyrics, “Lights up and they know who you are”. Although, the pop star has never spoken about his sexuality publicly.

While Styles’ 2017 solo debut album had a 1970s vibe, the soulful “Lights Up” signals a new, R&B-driven direction for the singer. Although the former One Direction star has never publicly identified with any particular label, many fans interpreted “Lights Up” as confirmation of his long-rumoured bisexuality. Many even suggested that the song’s release on Oct. 11, which happens to be National Coming Out Day, wasn’t a mere coincidence.
The 25 year-old singer has often been outspoken about LGBTQ rights in his recent interviews, and has been observed carrying the rainbow and transgender pride flags draped over his shoulders, in support of the cause in many public events.
