The third season of the acclaimed and popular Netflix show, The Crown, began streaming yesterday on November 17, 2019. The show is a dramatized biography of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who is the current constitutional monarch of England. The show began with her wedding and will continue for several more seasons until it reaches the present day. While the show covers most of the important events in the life of the Queen, many minor details about her life are often overlooked. So here are a few interesting facts about Queen Elizabeth II that you might have not known about. 

She is the longest-reigning monarch of England

The 93-year-old Queen is also the longest-ruling monarch of the United Kingdom. She first began her reign on February 6, 1952, and was coronated on June 2, 1953. She was 25 years old when she first took the throne after the death of her father. Her reign has been ongoing for 67 years now, beating the reign of Queen Victora, her great-great-grandmother who ruled for 64 years. 

The Queen sent her first Instagram post in 2019

Above is the first Instagram post that the Queen shared in March of this year, through the official account of the royal family. The Queen sent her first-ever E-Mail in 1976 and first made a public broadcast in 1940, during the Second World War, when she was still a princess. She made her first tweet on Twitter five years earlier in 2014.

No Driving License

Queen Elizabeth II does not have a driving License. However, she does not really require one, as the ruler of England is the only citizen of the country who is legally allowed to drive without a license. The Queen is still seen driving occasionally even to this day.

The Queen's managery of pets

Queen Elizabeth II has received several exotic gifts throughout the course of her reign. Some of those pets include exotic foreign animals that she keeps in the London Zoo. The Queen owns an elephant, a jaguar, two giant turtles as well as two sloths. When it comes to dogs, her favourite breed is Corgis. She has even created a new dog breed by mating her Corgi with a Dachshund belonging to her sister, Princess Margaret. The Queen and Princess Margaret named the new breed called Dorgi.
