Plot of Ritual
Four friends go on a hike through a forest which is possessed by a demon monster that kills people who do t submit to his authority. Many villrs who live in forest worship monster in exchange for immortality. By time four friends, Phil, Dom, Hutch and Luke figure out that forest is possessed, it is too late as monster or demon starts killing group one by one.

Throughout plot of film, Luke’s guilt keeps building up as he sees his friends dying one by one. Despite being at same place where a friend gets mercilessly killed. Luke is always spared his life, this, in turn, fills him with more pain and agony.

Ending of Ritual
Only Luke is left from group by end of film. He comes face to face with monster or demon as he runs for his life trying to escape forest. figure of monster is finally revealed in film and viewers get to see that demon is much bigger than what Luke could have imagined.
demon pushes Luke down to ground again and again and he seems to be very close to his death. Luke rises one final time and seemingly hurts demon with an axe. n Luke runs out of forest and discovers that monster is t following him. Taking a sigh of relief, he walks towards civilisation.

Ritual Ending explained
- Luke screaming at monster and burning down worship place signifies that he wanted to end whatever was going on in forest. screaming shows that he overcame his fear of death and guilt faced demon which he h been running away from. It also shows that he finally let out all emotions that h pent up inside him over past few months ever since his friend Rob died in front of him.
- Why was he marked? marking signifies that he was picked by demons to worship creature as he was alrey going through a turmoil of emotions and was guilt-ridden. This me him a perfect one to join submissive cult.
- Why didn't monster kill Luke? Towards end of film, we see that demon does t kill Luke even though Luke seemingly gives up fighting demon. This could be because Luke is 'chosen one' and demon monster wants Luke to submit to him and worship him like all or villrs and join cult.
- Luke is one filled with agony, pain, sorrow and guilt. This has seemingly me him perfect to be submissive and could be a decent dition to cult.
