Almost every music album in recent times features a recreated track. While some have hit bullseye and become party anthems like Dilbar and Aankh Marey, some have failed to create an impression. However, Vishal Dadlani is not a happy man over the trend of remixes catching up with his compositions. He explained in no uncertain terms that he will take legal action against those who recreate his and collaborator Shekhar Ravjiani’s songs, while also asking them to make their own songs.

Vishal’s warning

Recently, Vishal-Shekhar's track Saaki from Musafir was recreated for the movie Batla House. The recreated track got released and Nora Fatehi dazzling with her sensuous moves adding to its popularity. However, Vishal Dadlani was not pleased when he heard that some of Vishal-Shekhar's tracks like Dus Bahaane, Deedaar De, Sajnaji Vaari Vaari, Desi Girl were gearing up for a remix too. He termed them as ‘b*****disations’, warning anyone planning to do of legal action, he wrote, “Warning: I WILL sue anyone making remixes of Vishal & Shekhar songs. I'll even move court against the films & musicians. After Saaki Saaki, I hear upcoming b*****disations include Dus Bahaane, Deedaar De, Sajnaji Vaari Vaari, Desi Girl & more.”

Earlier, Koena Mitra too had expressed her anger over Saaki, which she had featured in, calling the Nora Fatehi recreation a ‘mess.’ Previously, the recreations of Ek Do Teen or Mungda got into controversies after statements from those associated with the original. Not just about the recreations, even copyrights come into the picture sometimes as recently Dr Zeus had lashed out over not being credited for Bala’s Don’t be Shy song.

Vishal-Shekhar composed music for movies like War, Bharat and Student of the Year 2 this year. All the three albums were popular among the listeners. While Vishal has the right to express his anger over anyone recreating his songs, he and Shekhar have themselves been involved with recreations this year. Vishal-Shekhar recreated evergreen classic Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani as The Jawaani Song for Student of the Year 2. The track had got mixed reviews upon its release. Meanwhile, Vishal has lent his voice to two more recreations. The track Shaitan Ka Saala from Housefull 4 was a recreation of Tony Montana’s Bala. He also sung the track Naari Naari in the movie Made in China. Even this was a recreation of an Arabic song.
