Aaditya Thackeray, who will be contesting the Maharashtra assembly polls from Mumbai's Worli heavily criticized the cutting of trees at the Aarey colony. Earlier on Friday, the Bombay High Court dismissed all petitions which were filed opposing the felling of trees in Aarey. The metro authorities will now be able to cut as many as 2,500 trees in the region. However, a after videos of trees being cut at Aarey were circulated on social media, locals gathered at the site to protest and eventually halted the tree-felling.

Calling the move "shameful and disgusting", Aaditya Thackeray hit out at authorities. He slammed the MMRCL for their alleged promptness of going ahead with the move of cutting trees. Bringing in Kashmir in the Aarey matter, he said that officials responsible for tree-felling must be posted across LoC in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir to destroy terror camps.

'No point of talking about Climate Change'
Thackeray added that there was increased police presence in the vicinity. he also said that members from his party Shiv Sena were protesting against the move. He also stated that that the Metro is destroying everything that India said that the recently concluded United Nations General Assembly, where a special Climate Action summit was held. Thackeray added that the centre should not speak about Climate Change when there is 'senseless' destruction of Aarey.

Aaditya Thackeray to contest assembly polls from Worli, Mumbai
Aaditya, on Thursday, filed his nomination to contest the State Assembly polls from the Worli constituency. He has been taking a stand against the felling of trees in the Aarey colony for a long time and recently criticed the incumbent Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for supporting the cutting down of trees. The Chief Minister, replying to the young Thackeray's comments said that the latter's intentions were noble, but he was not aware of the true intentions of those who are protesting. He also added that the State government had decided to plant 13,000 trees in place of the trees that will be cut. He also termed the project "carbon ultra-positive project".
