Air India waives off charges on Patna flights till Oct 3 due to floods
Indian flagship carrier Air India has waived off all the charges on modification of flight bookings to and from Patna till October 3 due to the flash flood

In the wake of the devastating floods in Bihar causing severe casualties, Indian flagship carrier Air India has waived off all the charges pertaining to modification in ticket bookings of all the international and domestic flights to and from the state's capital Patna till 3rd of October.

Prime Minister's assurance
Bihar has witnessed severe rainfall in the last few days causing floods across the states and death toll reportedly mounting over 60 lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the severity of the situation with the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Yadav on September 30 and has assured that the centre will stand with the state to provide all possible assistance.

IAF and NDRF deployed in the rescue operation
Indian Air Force helicopters have been deployed to drop relief material in flood-affected areas, while 22 NDRF teams are working on the ground to rescue people with reports saying more than 6000 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas of Patna. The Indian Meteorological Department has said that rainfall received so far is 10 per cent more than the normal occurrence and has issued a red alert. India has recorded its highest rainfall this Monsoon since 1994, with death toll amounting to 148 across the country. Notably, the highest number of deaths, which stands at 111 were reported in Uttar Pradesh.
