Hours after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed detention at Lucknow airport alleging the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh for preventing him to attend an event in Allahabad University, Republic TV accessed letter from the U.P government stating that the University urged the authorities to prevent Akhilesh Yadav from visiting the college due to fear of situation of law and order in the college varsity.

Furthermore, in another letter, Allahabad University Registrar also wrote to the Personal Secretary of Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday, informing him that politicians are not allowed in university programmes. This ascertains that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was given prior information on the developments of the college event ahead of his visit to Allahabad.
Speaking to reporters over the matter, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath reiterated the stand of the Allahabad University saying that it was the University's decision to not allow politicians in their cultural programmes, due to which the SP chief was stopped at the airport.
"Allahabad University has urged that if Akhilesh Yadav comes to the University, then there can take place a law and order situation. It can pose a threat to the law and order in the university. Allahaband University requested the police in the matter and that is why the government stopped him. It is because of anarchy of Samajwadi party that the university requested to control the situation," Yogi Adityanath said.
The BJP leader also said that few days back when Akhilesh Yadav visited Kumbh at Prayagraj, there were no issues with his visit. However, claiming it to be University's decision, Yadav was stopped at the airport, Yogi Adityanath stated.
"Akhilesh Yadav ji visited Sangam in Prayagraj few days back and he took a holy dip in the Ganga," he added.
After being blcoked at the Lucknow airport on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav posted pictures of the incident on Twitter accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of trying to prevent him from attending the event at the University. In the pictures, he could be seen surrounding with airport officials and talking to police officers inside the airport.
