Amid rising Coronavirus cases, Mumbai's Siddhivinayak temple shuts until further notice

Mumbai's Siddhivinayak temple has decided to shut the temple for devotees until further notice. The decision was taken to avoid the mass gathering of devotees.

In a bid to prevent spread of deadly Coronavirus, Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Ganapati temple has decided to shut temple for devotees from today till furr tice. temple trust released a press release on Monday stating that in order to prevent mass garing, which increases risk of Coronavirus spread, temple will remain shut till furr tice. 

"Due to spread of Coronavirus worldwide, number of cases in India is also rising. Looking at which Maharashtra government as a precautionary measure has requested people to avoid mass garing. In wake of Coronavirus, Temple trustee decided to close temple until furr tice," press release said.

Earlier On Saturday, temple had instructed all its employees to wear masks, while temple trust also provided hand sanitizers to everyone inside temple. 

After Siddhivinayak Temple, w Mumba Devi temple and Mahalaxmi Temple will also be closed for devotees effective from March 17 till furr tice. Moreover, Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir in Pune will also be closed till furr orders.

Coronavirus in India

According to latest figures available on Monday,  total number of positive cases of Coronavirus in India has soared up to 114 as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Two deaths have been reported in Kalaburagi and West Delhi respectively. India has suspended all visas, barring for a few categories such as diplomatic and employment apart from keeping in abeyance visa-free travel facility to OCI cardholders till April 15.

Moreover, Centre has “strongly advised” Indians to avoid all n-essential travel abroad. government is also monitoring all suspected cases and has issued preventive advisories. 

Taking into consideration rising number of Coronavirus cases, Central Government on March 14 decided to treat deadly virus as a "tified disaster."
