Amit Shah attends 'Shabad Anahad Kirtan' event at the India Gate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, October 12 attended the 'Shabad Anahad Kirtan' programme organised by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), at the India Gate lawn in Delhi. The Kirtan was organised as part of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's 550th birth anniversary celebrations. 

A spectacular event

The glorious event included a Gurbani recital by a large group of Sikh men. DSGMC President and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to Twitter to thank the mammoth gathering for attending the event. "Huge presence of Sangat made Shabad Anahad such a big success. Thanking you all," Sirsa tweeted. Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted pictures of the event on Twitter. He wrote, " Today I got the privilege of attending the 'Shabad Anahad' Kirtan Samagam organized by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. In this program dedicated to the 550th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 550 Kirtaniye performed together and recited the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji." 

About DSGMC

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) is a religious body constituted under the Indian Parliament Act, 1971. Its prime objective is to look after the historical Gurdwaras of Delhi/New Delhi and Sikh Affairs. The committee is headed by the leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

The founder of Sikhism

His teachings can be found in the sacred Sikh scripture Guru Granth Sahib -- a vast collection of verses recorded in Gurmukhi.
