As Mangaluru limps back to normalcy, Yediyurappa orders CID probe into violence

Days after two protestors were killed in police firing in coastal city of Mangaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister anunced a CID probe into violence that took place last Thursday. curfew that h been imposed has been lifted ahe of Christmas but section 144 continues to be imposed. “I hope situation will be peaceful henceforth. body has been able to explain properly how this law(CAA) will affect mirities, particularly Muslims. Because of a dearth of issues, despite PM Narendra Modi making it clear that Indian Muslim will be impacted by this, deliberately a conspiracy is being carried out by Congress. We will w hand over probe to CID," said Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

'Spoken to families in Mangaluru'
On Saturday, Yediyurappa paid a visit to Mangaluru where he held meetings with officials and also met families of two deceased. families told Chief Minister that both Jaleel and usheen were t protesting but were incent bystanders who got caught in crossfire between police and protestors. Chief Minister has anunced compensation for families and has also reportedly instructed district authorities to build houses for both families.
He said, "I have spoken to families in Mangaluru and have also instructed ministration that whatever compensation is possible in ir ambit, should be provided."

chief minister h also met with leers from mirity communities to understand situation and also assured m that upcoming Christmas celebrations in city will t be dampened because of law and order situation. Even as re is a fragile peace in highly volatile coastal city, rmalcy is slowly returning to public life. Bus services that h been suspended have been resumed and shops have opened at beginning of week as shopping for Christmas is underway. 18 people including five police personnel injured in protests on Friday are still recovering in Wenlock and Highland Hospitals.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol’s statement against deceased even before a probe has been met with strong opposition. "Those who were killed were t incent but mischief-makers and anti-national elements. police did t fire on incent protestors but criminals", Karjol h remarked.
