Bihar Floods: Nitish Kumar undertakes aerial survey of flood-hit areas

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his distress over the flood situation in Bihar and conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas on Monday

With many parts of Bihar, including Patna, immersed in waist-deep water after heavy downpours that threw rmal life out of gear in several parts, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his distress and conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas. Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Sunday had also requested Indian Air Force (IAF) for two helicopters for lifting and airdropping food packets and medicines, in flood-affected areas of region.

As per reports, CM had earlier blamed meteorological department and said that it misled state government as it had predicted re would be rain after September 26 and heavy rains started on Friday itself.

Flood Situation in Bihar

Boats have been pressed into service to evacuate people. Water has also gushed into many power sub-stations and power has to be disconnected to avoid major casualties.

Nitish Kumar told reporters on Sunday, "We are making all possible efforts. I would appeal to people of state to have patience and cour. Torrential rain has followed a prolonged dry spell which vindicates our governments resolve to combat climate change through environmental preservation."

In Danapur, on outskirts of Patna, a one-year-old girl and three women died when a tree fell on an autorickshaw carrying m. Three deaths were reported from Bhabhua, district headquarters of Kaimur, where continuous rain led to collapse of two mud houses.

Death toll rises 

floods in Bihar has led to deaths of 29 people up till w. state has witnessed incessant rainfall and flood in various regions. Bihar State Disaster Manment Authority has said that 29 people have died so far owing to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. India Meteorological Department has said that capital Patna will receive more rainfall for next few days accompanied by thunderstorms.
