Chairman of The Delhi Waqf Board and AAP Delhi MLA Amanatullah Khan on Monday gave a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the mother of missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmad and offered a job in Delhi Waqf Board to the younger brother of Najeeb Ahmad. Reacting to this, Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra said that just ahead of elections in Delhi, AAP govt is now doing appeasement politics to woo voters along communal lines.

Kapil Mishra takes on his former party

"I want to say that as per official data every year 8000 children go missing which means in the last five years 40,000 children have gone missing. I want to ask why have you given Rs 5 lakh only to the family members of Najeeb. What is the logic behind this? Is it being done because Najeeb used to follow Naxali ideology? Is it because Najeeb had reportedly joined ISIS? Such compensation is given only and only when someone dies on government duty and even if you are giving it then you should give everyone. Why family members of other missing children are not being compensated? I believe that Arvind Kejriwal govt is taking the political discourse to a dangerous level ahead of elections in Delhi" said Kapil Mishra.

Amanatullah Khan's statement

While speaking to Republic TV AAP MLA and chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board Amanatullah Khan asked if Kapil Mishra has any evidence of the allegations being levelled by him. The AAP leader added that the Waqf Board is authorised to give financial assistance to the family members of Najeeb. "I want to know evidence does he have? He is making this allegation just for media glare. This is preposterous to make such allegations. One should go and ask Najeeb's mother. Delhi Waqf Board has given this compensation through its rental income and it's absolutely authorised. Mother of Najeeb called me and told me that she is now bankrupt as all her money has been wasted in a legal fight for Najeeb, she added that her younger son is an engineer. After listening to her we interviewed the brother of Najeeb and offered him a job in Delhi Waqf Board. Act of Delhi Waqf Board says that the income of the board will be used for the welfare of Muslims. This is negative politics of BJP" said Amanatullah Khan.

Since then the family members of Najeeb are running from pillar to post to find out the whereabouts of Najeeb.
