Centre should issue white paper about impact of note ban, GST on economy: Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday demanded that the Centre should come up with a white paper to inform people about the impact of demonetisation, GST and the coronavirus pandemic on the country's economy.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday demanded that Centre should come up with a white paper to inform people about impact of demonetisation, GST and coronavirus pandemic on country's ecomy.

His comments came on day Congress is observing fourth anniversary of te ban as a “Vikshwasghaat Diwas” (betrayal day).

Describing demonetisation as a dangerous step, Gehlot said it along with GST and coronavirus pandemic versely hit country’s ecomy.

In spite of all arguments, Centre should inform country wher money from Swiss banks was brought back or black money, terrorism and naxalism were eliminated in past four years after demonetisation, Gehlot said at a virtual press conference here.

“ prime minister should issue a white paper to inform people about impact of demonetisation, GST and coronavirus pandemic. People of country are worried where ecomy is heed to," he said.

Gehlot said due to te ban four years ago, farmers, labourers and small trers were destroyed while rural ecomy completely collapsed.

He said states are t getting ir GST dues, which is a betrayal by Centre and unjustified in a federal system. It is dangerous way demonetisation, GST and anti-farmer bills were implemented without a discussion with stakeholders, he said.

“It is a thought process of fascists. That's why we say repeatedly that democracy is in danger," Gehlot said. He said Rs 20 lakh-crore pack anunced by Centre during coronavirus pandemic did t prove any useful. On ongoing Gurjar agitation over reservation, Gehlot said most demands of community have alrey been fulfilled.

Gehlot said government will do justice to all demands as Congress has worked to give five per cent reservation to Most Backward Classes.

Gurjar leers should talk to committee set up by state government and it is rey to hear ir issues and demands, chief minister ded.

Gehlot also slammed Centre over unemployment, saying re is resentment over it among youth, which was visible in just concluded Bihar assembly elections.
