COAS General Bipin Rawat reviews hinterland security in the Kashmir Valley, visits Army school in Sopore
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Bipin Rawat is undertaking a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley to review the prevailing security situation in the state and arrived in the capital, Srinagar, on Thursday.

COAS, accompanied by rrn Army Commander Lt General Ranbir Singh and Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon, visited formations and units deployed in hinterland in rth Kashmir. Chief of Army Staff was briefed by local Commanders on existing security situation and measures instituted to ensure close coordination with all government ncies towards maintaining vigil and peace in Valley.

During his interaction with soldiers on ground, he lauded m for ir high levels of morale and motivation. He furr reinforced need to be prepared to meet emerging security challenges effectively. Army Chief also visited Army Goodwill School at Mazbug, Sopore, and interacted with students and staff. school has constantly been striving to develop its infrastructure and is w one of finest educational institutions in area.

Subsequently, COAS was briefed by Chinar Corps Commander at Bami Bagh Cantonment on overall situation and major operational, informational, logistical and ministrative aspects pertaining to Corps.
Later in day, Army Chief also called on J&K Goverr Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar and apprised him about overall security situation in Valley including stringent enforcement of Counter-Infiltration Grid along Line of Control. y also discussed vital importance of a fully integrated inter-service approach being used for planning and executing counter-terrorist operations in hinterland. Goverr appreciated Army’s role in restoring and preserving peace in state.
