Haryana forms panel to draft law against 'Love Jihad'; HM, DGP attend high-level meeting
Republic Media Network has learnt that the Haryana Government along with legal experts is preparing a rough draft of the law during the meeting.

Haryana Government on Tuesday constituted a Committee for drafting a law against 'Love jih', following horrific death of a 21-year-old student in Ballabgarh. A high-level meeting heed by Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and Haryana DGP Maj Yav was held in state on Tuesday evening along with legal experts to prepare a rough draft of proposed law.
Imprisonment details, time-bound investigation, and or crucial details were also discussed during meeting. As per sources, Committee will discuss contents of law with or states that are also mulling on rolling out a similar 'Love Jih' Act.

States mulling laws against 'Love Jih'
Earlier today, Mhya Presh Home Minister Narottam Mishra confirmed that state government would table a bill against 'love jih' in next Assembly session. According to Mishra, Freedom of Religion Bill, 2020 will provide for five years of rigorous imprisonment and such crimes will be declared a cognizable and n-bailable offence. Recently, UP CM Yogi ityanath h said that his government would come out with a law to deal with "love jih".

'Love Jih' is a term referring to an alleged campaign by religious extremists to convert women of or faiths under pretext of love. Allahab High Court h recently said in a case that conversion just for sake of marri is t valid. court me remark while dismissing a plea by a newly married couple.
