CRPF to turn 'Waterheroes' on World Environment Day, plant 22L saplings across the country
With about 3.25 lakh personnel, the Central Reserve Police Force will plant 22 lakh saplings on the occasion of world environment Day on Friday.

Central Reserve Police Force, country's largest paramilitary force with about 3.25 lakh personnel, will plant 22 lakh saplings on occasion of world environment Day on Friday, a senior officer said. force, as part of its green initiative, has also decided to procure Bharat VI emission standard vehicles as well.

CRPF's green initiative
In a press release, CRPF said 195 Batallion deployed in Dantewada in Bastar region in Chhattisgarh has earned accolade of government when it was declared as 'Waterheroes' for January 2020 under Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
" CRPF has also been paying desired attention to waste manment by taking to vermi-composting in over 40 of its group centres besides setting up of in-house sew treatment plants in many of its formations. Energy conservation being an important environmental intervention, CRPF has been alive to us and utilitarian worth of solar energy. Accordingly, many of its residential complexes, as well as administrative offices across country, have been harnessing solar energy to supplement ir daily energy requirement in addition to in-campus street lighting." it said.

" force is ever vigilant to environmental concerns. As part of this duty, we have decided to plant 22 lakh saplings in our formations across country," CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Moses Dhinakaran said.

A waste manment initiative by way of vermi-composting is already being done in over 40 Group Centres of force besides setting up of in-house sew treatment plants in a number of formations, officer quoted earlier said. force is also working towards water conservation and a leading example has been work done by its 195th battalion deployed in interiors of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh where unit worked for rainwater harvesting and us of potable water for locals of Naxal violence-affected region, officer said.
