Dushyant Chautala expresses concern over poor air quality in Delhi

Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala on Saturday expressed concern over the poor air quality in Delhi and dismissed reports that the pollution is due to stubble burning in Haryana. Chautala interacted with the media and also presented a data.

Dushyant Chautala dismisses stubble burning reports 

During his interaction with media, Chautala said that the Delhi government is blaming Haryana for stubble burning. In addition, he also presented a data showing areas where there are instances of stubble burning in Haryana and Punjab. However, Chautala asserted that the pollution is not because of stubble burning in Haryana, but it is emanating from Punjab.

"Its surprising that Delhi blames Haryana for stubble burning, however the data indicates something else. Also, if what Delhi claims is true then Haryana would have more harmful effects than Delhi," said Dushyant Chautala

In addition, he also opined that it is an environmental issue which needs to be dealt with. Chautala also called for a longterm solution in order to avoid a similar condition next year.

"This is not a drug trafficking issue where one can seal borders. This is an environmental concern which needs to be dealt with collective effort so that we don't have to face it again next year," said Chautala.

He also stated that since last year, stubble burning in Haryana has been reduced by over 34%. He said that the Centre should work with all parties including areas under NCR to tackle the looming issue of air pollution. Moreover, Chautala said that logging in Delhi is another reason for such poor air quality that has gripped the capital. 

"I'm telling you this as per the data provided by NASA that logging in Delhi is also an issue. Even the dumpyard fires there contribute to the issue," added Chautala.

Chautala further said that addressing these issues should be of top priority and that 'blame game' will not help. He called for a collective solution to curb the issues. Haryana's Deputy CM concluded by saying that he has submitted a letter and appealed the Centre to look for a solution.
