Dussehra: HP CM participates as local team saves effigies from rain

Chief Minister Thakur witnessed the burning of giant effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarn, & Meghnad signifying the triumph of good over evil, during the event

As the rains hit the state of Himachal Pradesh ahead of Dussehra, the active local team prevented the effigies of Ravana and others from getting drenched enabling the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur, to take part in the celebrations. The Chief Minister witnessed the burning of giant effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarn, and Meghnad signifying the triumph of good over evil, during the event. The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister also urged people to think about the environment by reducing the bursting of crackers during the upcoming Diwali festival. 

Chief Minister’s message to people 

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai ram Thakur, told ANI, “Dussehra and Diwali are important for India. These festivals should be celebrated with great enthusiasm, but it should be the responsibility of every citizen to preserve the ecology and environment of the region. People across the country, and especially in my State, should try to use fewer crackers and think of the environment”. CM Thakur also tweeted, “Our government is committed to building temples in Devbhoomi Himachal. On the occasion of Dussehra, the foundation stone of the Navagraha temple and the museum was inaugurated in the Hanuman temple complex at Jakhu. Best wishes to all of you for these facilities. #HappyDussehra”.

Uttarakhand CM on Dusshera 

Uttarakhand CM, Trivendra Singh Rawat, during the celebrations said that the festival of Dussehra marks the victory of good over evil. "This festival gives us the message of eliminating the wrongs in society. If we can do that then only, we can develop a good society and nation. Dussehra is a part of Indian culture. This festival marks Lord Ram's victory over Lanka's Ravan. Lord Ram is a symbol of Indian culture and idealism,” Rawat added.

PM Modi’s message on Dussehra 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Dussehra celebrations at Ram Leela Maidan in Dwarka, New Delhi, on Tuesday. As per the custom, PM Modi at the Vijyadashmi celebration shot an arrow at a 107-foot Ravana effigy. PM Modi delivered a message of women's empowerment in his speech and compared women with goddess Laxmi. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi stated, "May the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram always remain upon us. May the power of truth, goodness, and compassion always prevail. May evil be eliminated. Jai Shri Ram!".
