first Lieutenant Goverr of Lakh Rha Krishna Mathur on Wednesday reached Leh ahe of his swearing-in ceremony on Thursday. Almost two months after official bifurcation of State of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, RK Mathur has been appointed as first Lieutenant Goverr of Lakh on October 25. Meanwhile, Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as first Lieutenant Goverr of Jammu Kashmir, while Satya Pal Malik, Goverr of Jammu & Kashmir has been transferred and appointed as Goverr of Goa.

About RK Mathur

Mathur is a retired Indian ministrative Service (IAS) officer of Tripura cre from 1977 batch. He retired as Chief Information Commissioner of India (CIC) in vember 2018. Apart from Central Government, IAS officer has served Tripura governments as Chief Secretary of Tripura, Principal Secretary of Finance, and Principal Secretary of Agriculture. RK Mathur was appointed as Chief Secretary of Tripura in December 2003. In 2016, he was given charge as Chief Information Commissioner of India (CIC).

Parliament revoked Article 370 and 35A

government h revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed that state be bifurcated into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Lakh. Jammu & Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019, which removes Jammu and Kashmir's status of a state and converts it into two Union Territories with legislature and also creates Lakh region as a UT without legislature. It was passed in a division pressed by opposition with 125 votes in favor and 61 against, and an NCP member abstained in Rajya Sabha. It was n passed by a two-thirds majority in Lok Sabha on next day, making it law.
