Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday took part in a 'Swachhta' campaign and asked people to take a pledge to keep the country clean.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday took part in a 'Swachhta' campaign and asked people to take the pledge to keep the country clean. Paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, Khattar said, "He taught us that the best way to know oneself is to immerse oneself in the service of others".

"Let us pledge to follow his footsteps on the path to a vibrant India to realise the dreams of the Mahatma, we will have to take a pledge to keep our surroundings and our country clean in the same manner we like to keep our homes clean," he said.

"On the occasion of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, we undertook 'Swachhta Abhiyan'. Gandhiji's dream was that all Indians should work together to make the country clean."

"To realize Gandhiji's dream, all countrymen will have to take a pledge that we will keep our country like we keep our home clean. We have to get involved in this service together to keep the country clean."
He said it was Mahatma Gandhi's dream to see countrymen join hands to keep the surroundings and the country clean. On the occasion, Khattar also picked up a broom to promote the cause of cleanliness. He was accompanied among others by his Minister Rao Narbir Singh, sitting MLA from Badshahpur, who has been denied ticket for the October 21 assembly polls from the seat. Khattar also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

Gandhi Sankalp Yatra
The Gandhi Sankalp Yatra is organized by the BJP. The programme is planned to propagate Gandhi's ideals and principles of non-violence, Swaraj, and simplicity to mark his 150th birth anniversary on October 2. PM Modi will kickstart the programme from Gujarat and other party leaders will initiate it from the party headquarters in New Delhi. However, the constituencies which the BJP does not hold have been given to Rajya Sabha MPs to handle. Top leaders which include Union Ministers Piyush Goyal has been made in-charge of Hyderabad, Prakash Javadekar in Delhi, Nirmala Sitharaman will be in Chennai to initiate the programme.
