Heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh leads to train cancellations

Three trains were cancelled and train signalling was also impacted because of heaving rainfalls in Andhra Pradesh. The Vizianagaram junction was most affected

Heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh has to lead to train operations being affected. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) issued a report wherein as many as three trains were cancelled due to waterlogging. Vizianagaram city was the most affected by the heavy rainfall and the waterlogging.

Three trains cancelled

The three trains that were cancelled are - trains no. 58526, 58525 and 22820. These trains run from Visakhapatnam Junction to Bhubaneshwar. Another train, the Bhubaneshwar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express was terminated at Srikakulam. The trains were cancelled because of harsh weather conditions and because in many stations, water had entered the station yards. 

Andhra Pradesh has witnessed heavy rainfall in the past few days. The rains had cost the lives of people. The 2,000-year-old Maha Stupa in Vishakapatnam also collapsed because of the rains.

All across the country, here has been excessive rainfall that has lead to severe flooding. The floods have affected Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Patna, etc. Mumbai witnessed three instances of heavy flooding during the monsoon and the city of Baroda was underwater because of heavy rainfall as well. The heavy rainfall has caused serious loss of life and property across the country. After a relatively dry spell, the rains have lead to serious damage in Karnataka and Kerala with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing warning for the coastal regions of the regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recently stated that the country had recorded the highest monsoon rainfall since 1994.

In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Eddpadi K Palaniswami recently held a review meeting so that the retreating South West monsoon causes the least damage in the state. The CM urged secretaries of various departments to coordinate to ensure prevention of loss of life and property. Palaniswami had directed deputing 50 personnel trained by the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, and those from the Fire and Rescue Services department to the Nilgiris, because the region had received a lot of rainfall.
