The former Chief Justice of Delhi, Madras, and Allahabad High Court mocked Yogi Adityanath for the idea to rename Allahabad on his Twitter post, which read,

"Dear @myogiadityanath, Congratulations for renaming Allahabad as Prayag. But surely that is not enough. I recommend the following further name changes of UP cities be made to eliminate names of these Babur ki Aulads altogether."

In his tweet, he further suggested the UP CM to change the names of 18 other districts of Uttar Pradesh to different names, including Agra to Agastyanagar, Aligarh to Ashwatthamanagar and Lucknow to Laxmanpur.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday had announced that Allahabad would be renamed as Prayagraj very soon following the demands of the saints. He made this announcement before the media after the meeting of the Kumbh Margdarshak Mandal in the city. He further went onto affirm that state governor Ram Naik had already supported the demands of the saints and people of the Sangam city.

"The government will soon send the proposal of changing the name of the city soon to the centre. Mr Naik (former MP from Maharashtra) had helped 'Bombay' to be renamed as 'Mumbai'. I have written to him to consider renaming Allahabad as 'Prayagraj', as a long pending demand of the saints and people of the city," said UP CM in his written application.

Yogi Adityanath also announced that pilgrims would be able to see and worship the Akshyabat and Saraswati kup during the Kumbh Mela at Sangam early next year.
