Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal laid the foundation stone for the campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Amritsar's Manawalla on October 7

On October 7, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal laid foundation stone for campus of Indian Institute of Manment (IIM) in Amritsar's Manawalla. institute which has been operational since 2015, has been operating from Government Polytechnic College near Guru Nanak Dev University campus. new IIM campus which will have an area of 60,000 square metres is expected to have state-of--art facilities in library, acemic block and hostels.

Rs 350 crores sanctioned for IIM-Amritsar campus
Pokhriyal h also tweeted about his visit to Amritsar earlier in day and said that for first st of construction, Rs 350 crore h been sanctioned. Rs 250 crore more would be allotted for IIM campus. Punjab's Higher Education Minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Director Nagaraj Ramamurthy and Chairman of Governing Board Sanjay Gupta were also present at ceremony, tweeted Ramesh Pokhriyal. Shiromani Akali Dal (S) has asked minister to dedicate institute to Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev on his 550th birth anniversary.

Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Bal also urged Central Government to dedicate IIM to Guru Nanak Dev. She congratulated state of Punjab after establishment of ar world-class institute after AIIMS. She said, " UPA government neglected state of Punjab for 10 years but w Punjab has become a priority and has been sanctioned projects like AIIMS and IIM."
