In a tweet, the BJP leader dedicated the independence day to all the freedom fighters who 'wrote a new saga of sacrifice and dedication' for the liberation of India.

PM Narendra Modi on Thursday wished Indians on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day as well for the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort, Delhi from 7:30 am onwards on the occasion of India's 73rd Independence Day on August 15. PM Modi will deliver his speech after hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort. Ahead of his Independence Day address, he will be paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat at 7.00 am.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday, wished the nation and assured its safety in the hands of the Army.

"I wish all citizens a 'Happy Independence Day' today. I wish to assure citizens that the nation is completely safe in the hands of Army and paramilitary forces. The decision to end article 370 is being welcomed by all Indians all over the world. I also wish all the citizens also a Rakshabandhan," he said.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence said that three women IAF officers will assist the Prime Minister during the Independence Day ceremony. Furthermore, Flying Officer Preetam Sangwan will assist the PM Modi in the unfurling of the national flag, while Flt Lt Jyoti Yadav & Flt Lt Mansi Geda will be positioned on either side of the saluting dais for the Prime Minister.

On August 14, preparations were underway for the grand celebrations of the 73rd Independence Day across India. Government buildings across the country were illuminated to mark the occasion of freedom from the colonisers - the British.
