Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's Judicial Custody Extended Till July 3 in Excise Policy Case

On the Hadipora-Baramullah encounter, IGP Kashmir Zone, Virdhi Kumar Birdi said, "J&K Police and security forces received an input this morning. The input was developed further and we noticed suspicious movement at the location. The search turned into an operation. The operation began early in the morning and concluded in the evening. Cautious search operations are still underway. Two terrorists have been gunned down. Prima Facie, it looks like they belong to the LeT. On the probe in connection with the Reasi terror attack, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP, Reasi) Mohita Sharma said, "Around 150 people have been arrested in connection with this case. We have arrested the terrorist from Bandrahi in Rajouri district. I reached the spot of the incident after 1.5 hours but the local police reached the spot immediately and were involved in the rescue of the injured. Since it was the day of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government and India-Pakistan match, we were on alert. We did not get any specific input regarding this attack."
 

After the arrest of one terror accused in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the Reasi terror attack, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP, Reasi) Mohita Sharma said, "One Hakimdeen has confessed that he helped the terrorists as a guide and also helped them find shelter. He also said that he was present at the attack site and also heard gunshots. After the attack, he led the terrorists out of the area. On different occasions, the terrorists visited his residence. One day before the incident the terrorists stayed at his residence. He mentions about three terrorists. During recce of the site, he made sure that no CCTVs could capture him or the terrorists. He was given Rs 6000 for this help by terrorists. We will not stop until those terrorists are either arrested or neutralised. "

After the arrest of a terror suspect in the Reasi terror attack case, the Jammu and Kashmir police revealed that accused identified as Hakimdeen, was the one who gave shelter to the terrorists, involved in the Reasi terror attack incident, for Rs 6000.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the arrested terror suspect in connection with the Reasi terror attack case, identified as Hakimdeen, allegedly worked as a guide for the terrorists involved in the attack. 

As many as 10 people have reportedly died in hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu's  Kallakurichi. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has ordered a CB-CID inquiry on the issue and transferred District Collector Sravankumar Jatavath and appointed MS Prashanth as the new Collector for Kallkurichi district. Kallakurichi SP Samaysingh Meena has been suspended and Rajath Chaturvedi has been appointed as the new SP. Many police officials have also been placed under suspension.

On heatstroke-related cases, an official of Safdarjung Hospital says, "Out of 5 deaths, 2 are confirmed as per NCDC guidelines. Rest could have alternate diagnosis, so we are revising the death census to 2."

Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed the heatwave situation and preparedness of the central govt hospitals, today. He has directed the officials to ensure that all hospitals are prepared to provide the best healthcare to the affected. He has also directed for special heatwave units to be started in the central govt hospitals: Ministry of Health.

One person has been arrested in connection with Reasi terror attack by Reasi Police, says J&K Police.

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has given additional charge of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) chairperson to Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar for two months, PTI reported. Kumar is a 1987-batch AGMUT IAS officer and has previously also served as the NDMC chairman.

Encounter is also underway in Baramulla as security forces launched a cordon a search operation in the Watergam area of Baramulla district on Wednesday morning following information about presence of ultras there. 
 

Rouse Avenue court extends the judicial custody of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Vinod Chauhan till July 3. Both were produced before the court through video conferencing from Tihar Jail after the expiry of their judicial custody.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar, the Congress on Wednesday attacked him and asked why hasn't the state been granted special category status as promised by him. "As the 'one-third' Pradhan Mantri visits Bihar to inaugurate Nalanda University, some questions from the campaign that we hope he answers now - Why hasn't Bihar been granted Special Category Status as the PM had promised?" Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.

“I am happy that I got the opportunity to visit Nalanda within 10 days after swearing in as PM for the 3rd time...Nalanda is not just a name, it is an identity and respect. Nalanda is a value and mantra...fire can burn books but it can't destroy knowledge,” said PM Modi after inaugurating new campus of Nalanda university on Wednesaday. 

At the inauguration of the new campus of Nalanda University, EAM Dr S Jaishankar said, “ ...Nalanda University served a larger role by connecting our society with those our near and far neighbours through land and sea...the universities destruction marked a downturn in our history and is continued through the colonial period. In that era, we not only saw a decline in our capabilities and confidence but in our connectivity as well with those nations who are now members of the East Asia Summit. In the rebuilding of Nalanda University, there are multiple messages, both national and international.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a plaque at the new campus of Nalanda University as he inaugurates the campus on Wednesday. 

“Nalanda has a strong connect with our glorious past. This university will surely go a long way in catering to the educational needs of the youth,” said PM Modi on Wednesday as he visited the ruins of ancient Nalanda university in Bihar. 

“After the destruction of that Nalanda, 800 years is a long way for a campus to flourish again..It is a great day, a red letter day because the new campus of the Nalanda University is being inaugurated by the Prime Minister in the august presence of all dignitaries like the Governor of Bihar, CM, Deputy CMs as well as EAM S Jaishankar and MoS. This event is long-awaited because the ancient Nalanda for which we were known all over the world and on which strength of Nalanda, we were designated and renowned as the ‘Vishva Guru’,” said Interim Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, Prof Abhay Kumar Singh.

India has received 20 per cent less rainfall since the start of the monsoon period on June 1, with the rain-bearing system making no significant progress between June 12 and 18, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

India received 64.5 mm of rainfall between June 1 and 18 which is 20 per cent less than the long period average (LPA) of 80.6 mm. 

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate Nalanda University in Bihar's Rajgir on Wednesday, June 19. The new campus of the university is close to the site of the ancient ruins of Nalanda. This university was established through the Nalanda University Act, 2010.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and ambassadors of 17 nations are expected to attend the event being organised for inauguration of the campus.
