On the Hadipora-Baramullah encounter, IGP Kashmir Zone, Virdhi Kumar Birdi said, "J&K Police and security forces received an input this morning. The input was developed further and we noticed suspicious movement at the location. The search turned into an operation. The operation began early in the morning and concluded in the evening. Cautious search operations are still underway. Two terrorists have been gunned down. Prima Facie, it looks like they belong to the LeT. We can confirm this only after further investigation as per the SOP."

After Union Cabinet’s approval for funding of scheme for 1 GW offshore wind projects off the coasts of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his post on the X, wrote, “The Cabinet decision to approve a funding scheme for 1 GW offshore wind projects off the coasts of Gujarat & Tamil Nadu will enhance our renewable energy capacity, reduce CO2 emissions and create numerous jobs. Today’s Cabinet decision on developing a major port at Vadhavan in Maharashtra will boost economic progress and also create employment opportunities at a large scale.”

Around 150 People Have Been Arrested in Connection With Reasi Terror Attack Case: SSP Reasi

On the probe in connection with the Reasi terror attack, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP, Reasi) Mohita Sharma said, "Around 150 people have been arrested in connection with this case. We have arrested the terrorist from Bandrahi in Rajouri district. I reached the spot of the incident after 1.5 hours but the local police reached the spot immediately and were involved in the rescue of the injured. Since it was the day of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government and India-Pakistan match, we were on alert. We did not get any specific input regarding this attack."

Arrested Accused Hakimdeen Revealed, 3 Terrorists Executed Reasi Terror Attack: J&K Police

After the arrest of one terror accused in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the Reasi terror attack, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP, Reasi) Mohita Sharma said, "One Hakimdeen has confessed that he helped the terrorists as a guide and also helped them find shelter. He also said that he was present at the attack site and also heard gunshots. After the attack, he led the terrorists out of the area. On different occasions, the terrorists visited his residence. One day before the incident the terrorists stayed at his residence. He mentions about three terrorists. During recce of the site, he made sure that no CCTVs could capture him or the terrorists. He was given Rs 6000 for this help by terrorists. We will not stop until those terrorists are either arrested or neutralised. "

As many as 10 people have reportedly died in hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu's  Kallakurichi. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has ordered a CB-CID inquiry on the issue and transferred District Collector Sravankumar Jatavath and appointed MS Prashanth as the new Collector for Kallkurichi district. Kallakurichi SP Samaysingh Meena has been suspended and Rajath Chaturvedi has been appointed as the new SP. Many police officials have also been placed under suspension.

June rainfall 20 per cent below average as monsoon stalls: IMD

India has received 20 per cent less rainfall since the start of the monsoon period on June 1, with the rain-bearing system making no significant progress between June 12 and 18, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

India received 64.5 mm of rainfall between June 1 and 18 which is 20 per cent less than the long period average (LPA) of 80.6 mm.

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate Nalanda University in Bihar's Rajgir on Wednesday, June 19. The new campus of the university is close to the site of the ancient ruins of Nalanda. This university was established through the Nalanda University Act, 2010.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and ambassadors of 17 nations are expected to attend the event being organised for inauguration of the campus.
