Indian Navy hails Priyadarshani Pawar for winning global cycling event

The Indian Navy announced on Twitter that Priyadarshani Pawar, whose parent is in the Force and husband is in the Coast Guard won a cycling event on August 22.

The Indian Navy announced on Twitter that Priyadarshani Pawar, whose parent is in the Force and husband is in the Coast Guard made India proud on August 22 by winning the Paris Brest Paris Randonneur cycling event. The event was held from August 18-22. As per the Indian Navy Spokesperson's account on Twitter, Pawar's victory is the first time ever an Indian woman has successfully completed the event since it started in 1891. As per the Navy Spokesperson, PM Narendra Modi happened to come to France the same time Pawar finished the race with a stunning victory.

Indian Navy hails Indian women as they continue breaking glass ceilings

The Navy Spokesperson credited Pawar's success to its programmes for empowering women and children. Pawar is a Navy Children school alumna. Her achievement comes soon after that of the Navika Sagar Parikrama, where an all women crew completed the mission of circumnavigating the globe on Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini. The Tarini team completed their mission on May 2018.

Indian Forces make us proud

Pawar winning the global cycling event is yet another reason to cheer for Indian Forces who continue to make us proud through achieving feats while on duty and even when off duty. The Navy Spokesperson has called this yet another example of an Indian woman achieving success in a challenging sports event. Several times the soldiers have also been feted by people and by netizens on social media for their selfless work of rescuing those in need. The Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces pays respect to them in their frequent updates on their heroic missions and achievements.
