Kangana slams MVA govt over privilege motion against Arnab Goswami, seeks President's Rule

On Thursday, actor Kangana Ranaut slammed Maharashtra government over state Assembly's letter to Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami alleging breach of privilege. Highlighting alleged misplaced priorities of government, she pointed out that Maharashtra was faring very bly in tackling COVID-19 pandemic. Terming Maha Vikas Aghi government as "fascist", Manikarnika actor opined that people who speak against state government are being harassed. reafter, she demanded imposition of President's Rule in Maharashtra.

In response to Maharashtra Assembly's 60-p letter, Arnab Goswami assured citizens that he will continue to question Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and elected representatives. He anunced that he shall fight a legal battle in this regard. Maintaining that Constitution is right of any citizen, Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief stated that he will assert right to report. 

Here is Arnab Goswami's full statement: 

"I want to speak to people of India. Maharashtra assembly has sent me a 60 p letter asking me why I am questioning Chief Minister,  and threatening me with jail and breach of privilege. I have decided to fight this. I will continue to question Uddhav Thackeray and elected representatives and I will continue to fight m. I will fight m in Court, but never give in to such undemocratic practices.   Constitution is t a gift given to anyone, it is right of every citizen. I will continue to uphold that right, ask my questions and exercise right to report."

'Illegal detention' of Republic crew

On September 8, Republic Media Network’s reporter Anuj Kumar, video journalist Yashpaljit Singh and Ola cab driver Preep Dilip Dhanave were taken into illegal police custody by Maharashtra Police.  reporting team was following a journalistic le in an investigative assignment in Karjat in Raig. He was pressured by state machinery in Maharashtra to reveal his story, his les and his sources. t only was legal representation denied to m, but also a remand copy was t given in time to block any possible legal recourse.

After six days of detainment, all three crew members were granted bail by a Khalapur court on Monday.   court has levied a small bail bond for ir release and has imposed restriction on team's travel. ditionally, National Human Rights Commission registered a case in New Delhi on complaint filed by Republic Media Network regarding violation committed by Maharashtra police on  crew's illegal detainment, issuing a tice to Maharashtra government.
