Kanhaiya Kumar escapes unhurt in second attack on convoy in Bihar; vehicle damaged
Kumar is on a yatra across Bihar against the CAA, NPR, and the NRC. The CPI member leader escaped unhurt but a driver escaped unhurt.

Communist Party of India (CPI) member Kanhaiya Kumar's convoy was attacked in Supaul in Bihar on Wednesday. Kumar was on a statewide rally against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Kumar's convoy attacked
Kumar escaped unhurt, however, a driver of one of vehicles received serious injuries and cars were damd as well. This is second such attack on Kumar's convoy this week. On February 1, his convoy was attacked in Saran district in Bihar.
Hours after incident, Kumar tweeted about yatra and said that he was happy with support that yatra was receiving. He also mentioned attack on his convoy and said that " caravan of love will trounce over hate."

Kumar's 'Jan Gan Man Yatra' across Bihar started on January 30 and Wednesday was seventh day of yatra. Congress MLA Shakil Ahm Khan who has accompanied Kumar on yatra told PTI over call that it was a conspiracy and blamed negligence of police over incident.

He said, "It is a small town. spot where attack took place is less than a kilometer from collector's residence. Police personnel and officials of district ministration were deployed. Still, miscreants hurled stones, raised slogans and mand to flee taking vant of dark. I have telephoned Director-General of Police seeking intervention from highest level. Our yatra is to continue for next few weeks. Alrey, we are on move, having left Supaul for Saharsa where Kanhaiya's next rally is scheduled on Thursday. We hope law and order machinery would rise to occasion."

Kumar, who is former President of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)'s Students' Union has been a vocal critic of Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and has been on receiving end of government's ire, especially during his time in JNU, when charges of sedition were levied against him.
Bihar is currently under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), which is in alliance with ruling BJP.
