A dawn to dusk protest planned against Citizenship Amendment Act in Kerala started with police taking 100 people in preventive custody from different areas of State. 

protest h been called by parties that do t have a major representation in State Assembly. Earlier, State Police chief Loknath Behra said that protest that h been called was illegal since protestors, in order to call for a shutdown, h t followed Kerala High Court ruling of giving a seven days tice.

On Monday,  CPI(M)-led LDF and opposition Congress heed UDF in Kerala held a joint protest against amended Citizenship act here on Monday with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan slamming move as an attempt to "curb freedom". two parties are staunch local rivals but h come toger to protest against CAA, which is widely regarded as unconstitutional. 
Multiple protests have broken out across country against CAA, which allows n-Muslims from Banglesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to seek residence in India.

protests have erupted in different regions in country, including New Delhi, Uttar Presh, Kolkata, Hyderab, Mumbai, Tamil Nu, Kerala, etc. In national capital, protests took a violent turn on Sunday evening, when city police barged into campus of Jamia Milia University, beating up students and entering library, canteen, washroom as well as residential wings of both, girls and boys. Many of m were detained by police on Sunday evening and were released only around 3:30 am on Monday after a huge crowd h gared outside Police hequarters.

PM Modi dispels misinformation

On Monday afteron, PM Modi took to Twitter to dress country on issue and gave an assurance that CAA h thing to do with any citizen of India, irrespective of religion. He emphasised that legislation was only aimed at helping persecuted individuals in or countries. Warning against rumours, he stressed that it was time to maintain peace and work toger for development of India.
